Suffolk County man arrested for impersonating an FBI agent and imprisoned a woman

Suffolk County Police arrested this man, Brandon Knapp, after he impersonated an FBI agent and imprisoned a woman.

After a 28-year-old woman posted on Facebook that she believed she was being followed, a friend put the victim in contact with Brandon Knapp, believing he was an FBI agent. Knapp and the victim met at a Commack residence the afternoon of November 2 and Knapp convinced the victim he would take her to a safe house.

The two left the residence in Knapp’s vehicle, a gray 2004 Mercedes Benz. A concerned family member called the woman's cell phone and then contacted police. Knapp dropped off the victim at a restaurant and Southampton Town Police responded and transported her to the Seventh Precinct.

Knapp, 27, of Center Moriches, was located a short time later and charged with Criminal Impersonation 2nd Degree and Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd Degree.

Detectives are asking anyone who believes they might have been a victim of Knapp to contact the Fourth Squad detectives at 631-854-8451.
