State Police investigate a burglary complaint in the village of Gouverneur

On November 10, 2025, at approximately 12:29 a.m., the New York State Police responded to Averell Street in the village of Gouverneur for a report of a burglary in progress.

An investigation determined that an individual entered onto private property and into a garage without permission. The homeowner confronted the individual inside the garage and contacted law enforcement. Upon the arrival of the Troopers, the individual provided a false name to both the homeowner and responding members. He was subsequently taken into custody and transported to SP Gouverneur for further questioning.

Troopers quickly identified the suspect by his true name through prior encounters and a distinctive tattoo. Further investigation revealed that the male suspect had arrived at the location in a vehicle with Lindsay M. Shattuck, age 27, of Gouverneur, NY. Shattuck had dropped him off with the intent that he would burglarize the garage and planned to return afterward to pick him up.

On November 10, 2025, the 18-year-old male from Ogdensburg, NY, was arrested for Burglary 2nd degree and False Personation. He was arraigned in the Town of Gouverneur Court and released on his own recognizance.

On November 12, 2025, Troopers made contact with Shattuck, who admitted she had dropped the male off and intended to pick him up. She stated she left the area after observing a State Police vehicle at the residence. Shattuck was arrested for Criminal Facilitation 3rd degree. She was arraigned in the Town of Gouverneur Court and released on her own recognizance.
