State Police arrest Utica man on felony drug charges following investigation

Following a narcotics investigation, members of the New York State Police Troop D Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team (VGNET) arrested Michael J. Griggs, age 65, from Utica.

On November 7, 2025, VGNET members conducted an undercover operation involving Griggs, during which he was found in possession of approximately one ounce of cocaine.

As a result of the operation, Griggs was charged with:  

•    Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree (Class A-II Felony)  

•    Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree (Class B Felony)

Griggs was arraigned at Oneida County Centralized Arraignment Court.
