Social media notice did not go well in Nassau County

On Thursday afternoon, teens flocked to the local mall in Valley Stream for the new trend on social media called takeover. As soon as a single 911 call came in, more than 20 patrol vehicles with cops arrived within a few minutes. Then more cops arrived. Within less than 10 minutes, 9 teens were arrested while the rest of hundreds who tried to enter the mall dispersed to avoid arrests. All 9 were charged from riot, unlawful assembly, criminal possession of a weapon, robbery, criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, property damage, petit larceny, endangering the welfare of a child and other charges. Most of the teens were from Queens and assumed it's the same as NYC soft on crime. All were arranged and released with a date, March 3rd to appear in family court and one to the main court as an adult.

Unlike NYC, Nassau County charges are permanent and will remain sealed after the case is over for future reference in case another crime is committed.

The investigation continues.
