Homicide in Jamaica shots fired elsewhere in Queens

The NYPD is investigating a homicide that occurred at a local bar in Jamaica. The incident was reported last night around 1:45am on Jamaica Avenue near 184 Street. Police say a dispute broke out inside the bar and bullets went off. EMS transported the male shot to a local hospital who later died. The 34 year old male victim lives nearby and was with friends.

Police say the suspect identified as male, Hispanic, is now on the hunt.

Earlier today, ESU reported shots fired in Corona. This is on 57th Avenue near 96th Street. This is the 8th incident of shots fired in Queens for this month.

Despite the incidents, Jamaica is a very safe neighborhood that's gentrifying rapidly with average rent of an apartment starting affordable at $3,000 per month plus utilities.
