Piercefield man arrested following domestic incident

On June 6, 2026, the New York State Police arrested Chad M. Pickering, 41, of Piercefield, and charged him with Assault in the Third Degree (with intent to cause physical injury).

At approximately 4:04 a.m., troopers received a walk-in complaint at SP Tupper Lake regarding a domestic dispute that occurred at a residence on Wood Avenue in the Town of Piercefield.

An investigation determined that Pickering and the victim were involved in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation. During the incident, Pickering allegedly punched and kicked the victim in the head, continued to strike the victim, pushed the victim to the ground, and threw items at the victim.

The victim was able to escape and crawl to a nearby residence for assistance.

Tupper Lake EMS responded to SP Tupper Lake to evaluate the victim. The victim was subsequently transported to Adirondack Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers actively searched for Pickering and later located him.
