Port Byron man arrested following domestic violence investigation and discovery of illegal weapons

The New York State Police arrested Christopher A. Pearson, age 28, of Port Byron, NY, following a domestic violence investigation that led to the seizure of multiple illegal weapons and firearm components.

On June 6, 2026, State Police responded to a report of a domestic incident at a residence in the town of Throop. Troopers located the victim at a neighboring residence, suffering from visible facial injuries. The victim reported that an argument with Pearson escalated into a physical assault during which she was repeatedly struck and threatened with what she believed to be a firearm.

During the investigation, troopers conducted a consensual search of the residence and discovered multiple suspected ghost guns, firearm suppressors, ammunition feeding devices, and unfinished firearm frames. The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation adopted the case and continued the investigation.

Pearson was located later that day in Oswego County and taken into custody without incident. The children present during the incident were located and found to be safe.

Pearson was charged with:

•    Three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (Possession of a Silencer) (D felony)

•    Three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (Ammunition Feeding Device) (D felony)

•    Aggravated Family Offense (E felony)

•    Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree (Ghost Gun) (A misdemeanor)

•    One count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree (Unfinished Frame) (A misdemeanor)

•    Assault 3rd degree (A misdemeanor)

•    Menacing 2nd degree (A misdemeanor)

Pearson was processed at SP Auburn and transported to the Cayuga County Jail for centralized arraignment.

The investigation remains ongoing and is being conducted by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
