New York State Police arrest montour Falls man following two burglaries

The New York State Police have arrested 27-year-old Bradly Smith, of Montour Falls, NY, following an investigation into two burglaries that occurred during the early morning hours of May 26, 2026, in the village of Montour Falls.

At approximately 2:35 a.m., troopers from SP Montour Falls responded to a reported burglary on Canal Street. The suspect fled the scene prior to law enforcement’s arrival. Troopers, assisted by a K9 unit, an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS), the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), and the Forensic Identification Unit (FIU), searched the area.

During the investigation, State Police identified Smith as the suspect through surveillance footage and area interviews. Investigators also determined a second burglary had occurred at a separate property in the village.

Smith was located later that day, interviewed by investigators and charged with:

•    Burglary 2nd degree: Dwelling/Sexually Motivated (C Felony)

•    Burglary 2nd degree: Dwelling (C felony)

•    Petit Larceny (A misdemeanor)

Smith was transported to the Schuyler County Jail for CAP arraignment.

The New York State Police were assisted by the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office.
