Never mind the sleep the community went to help their church in Glendale

Last night around 11pm, FDNY reported a fire at a local church in Glendale. This is on 68th Street near 72nd Avenue at St. Pancras Catholic Church. The fire started in the roof and was brought under control by 12:30am.

Local members of the church ran out of their sleep to help out with some in their pajamas. They helped members of FDNY with water and other necessities to bring the fire under control.

According to a member, Salvatore Laurenzano, this is the post for the community.

Right now there is no power in the Church and Rectory.

Msgr. Aguggia said morning mass will still happen.

I ask all St. Pancras Parishioners and citizens of Glendale and the surrounding communities to reach out to aid Msgr. Aguggia and the Church in whatever they need.

Once again, tonight, me being a part of these people of strong faith. Doing what they could for their pastor, who they love so dearly, was a sight I wish we see more of.

Please don't forget to walk to the Rectory and check it.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
