NYS troopers to deply drones for investigations

On Monday, January 15, Governor Cuomo announced NYS troppers will start using drones starting Albany and Western New York to obtain photos of crime scenes, check for traffic flow, disaster aid and more. The drones will be used by police personnel only after registered with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The purpose is for faster response to police work and files will not be stored in archives. The non-related data will be deleted after 30 days. Almost 20 drones will be deployed to assigned areas starting Wednesday.
