Midnight comes for DSNY enforcement

The NYC Dept of Sanitation will start the first set of enforcement in midtown Manhattan for the new law effective midnight.

As of November 12, all garbage bags must be in a plastic container with cover or face fine of $50 per bag.

This enforcement is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to combat rats problem as well as a way to make money using taxpayers.

The DSNY blues will start the round at midnight checking for enforcement and will expand to other boroughs.

The city estimates the new law will bring at least $400 million from fines.
