Littering fine just doubled in NYC subways

Starting today, September 7, anyone found littering in NYC subway stations will receive $100 fine. The fine went up from $50. Governor Cuomo announced a press statement and afterward, he cleaned tracks himself using the vacuum cleaner at Union Square station. The campaign, Keep It Clean was reported after 700 track fires causing delays. However, NYPD reported only 83 tickets were issued for littering from January 2017 to September 6, 2017 after police saw the incident.
