Its the law for all cops to retrain CPR

Governor Cuomo signed the new law called Briana's Law into effect starting August 27 which means all NYPD officers and NYS Troopers must undergo CPR training every two years. The law, Briana's Law took 7 years to pass. Before the law, cops only get CPR training at the academy and not required for another training. The law is named after Briana Ojeda who died in 2010 at 11 years old when she suffered asthma while playing. Her mother, Carmen called 911 but rather than waiting, she drove to the hospital. On the way, she was pulled over by NYPD officer Alfonso Mendez for making the wrong way turn. The mother pleaded with Mendez who did not know CPR and later allowed them to go to the hospital where Briana died. Mendez was suspended back then and sued by Carmen. The case was dismissed. August 27 was the day Briana died 7 years ago.
