High rent on Hillside Avenue has empty slots after a decade

Commercial businesses on Hillside Avenue between Langdale Street to 249 Street from Floral ark to Bellerose have many empty store lots due to highest rent in a decade. The average store front rent is $5,000 plus utilities and taxes. Several businesses have closed or relocated elsewhere. However, one target remains strong and its food including eateries. Most of the food catering to ethnic groups of Asian Indians, Pakistanis and etc remains established and doing well due to serving large targeted demographic residents in the area. Several people described the walk around for casual eating is the reason why they enjoy Hillside Avenue. Still, many eateries are discouraged with rising rent and other expenses.
