Hempstead man busted for bank robbery inside Stop and Shop in East Meadow

Police arrested James L. Stack, 38 of Hempstead and charged with robbery. The incident happened on March 21 around 4:30pm inside Peoples United Bank at 2425 Hempstead Turnpike within Stop and Shop Supermarket. Police reported a suspect, male, white approached the teller and passed a note demanding money. The teller complied and the suspect fled the scene on foot southbound with an undisclosed amount of US currency. There were 2 employees and no customers inside the bank at the time of the robbery. There were no reported injuries.
