Hempstead man arrested for assault resisting arrest and unlicensed operation of vehicle

The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Hempstead man for an Assault that occurred on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 2:28 PM in Valley Stream.

According to detectives, officers conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop of a 2012 Dodge Challenger in the vicinity of Hook Creek Boulevard and 136th Avenue. During the investigation, it was determined that the driver, Albert Dodson, 30, of 227 Long Beach Road was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. While attempting to place the defendant under arrest, he became combative and began to resist, causing an officer to sustain injuries. The injured officer was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Defendant Albert Dodson is charged with Assault 2ndDegree, Resisting Arrest, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd Degree and multiple other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He will be arraigned on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at First District Court, Hempstead.
