Groundbreaking ceremony held for 116th Precinct

After the funding was restored for the new police precinct to divide the 105th Precinct last June 2021, a groundbreaking ceremony was held today for the start of the construction. This is next to the satellite spot of the 105th Precinct in Rosedale, north of the LIRR. The construction will start this year and is expected to complete by 2023. The current 105th Precinct covers 350 miles with its base in Queens Village. The new precinct will have more police personnel.

The project is $90 million and the design phase is complete. Also, plans for a pedestrian plaza, a community room and a food pantry are in the discussion.
