Four Fairway sold in a bankruptcy auction

On Wednesday, four Fairway stores in Manhattan were sold in a bankruptcy auction. The auction also called for the production in the Bronx and distribution center in Brooklyn to meet the four locations for inventory. Two locations shut down but sold the lease to Amazon. Village Super Market that operates ShopRite won the auction for $76 million. Since filing for bankruptcy in January, the stores struggled to stay in business with competitors. The rest of the stores will cease operations including the Douglaston location.
Also, Modell's will not open for business as all stores closed permanently laying off workers.
