Facial recognition technology to be deployed at JFK

On Tuesday, August 15, Delta Airlines is testing the new biometric technology called facial recognition at eGates in their terminal at JFK in Jamaica. JetBlue is starting the phase at JFK with private contractor under the cooperation of US Customers Border Protection. Also, JetBlue is setting up the technology at Boston Logan Airport for travelers to pass without scanning a boarding pass. On August 13, the same technology is already setup at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas as part of beta testing for trips from US to Mexico. This is already established at Atlanta International Airport, Washington Dulles, GB Airport in Houston and Chicago O'Hare Airport. The purpose of technology is to compare photos of identification to match the travelers from the manifest so all are accounted without security breach. After the travel is complete and photo match with the traveler, the document is discarded within few weeks. Travelers not matching the identification will disrupt flight and taken into detention by US Homeland Security for further investigation.
