DSNY will be distributing organic bins for these areas

Starting September 2017, the following locations will be the first to receive organic bins from NYC Dept of Sanitation. Auburndale, Bay Terrace, Beechhurst, College Point, Flushing, Linden Hill, Malba, Queensboro Hill, Whitestone, Willets Point, Briarwood, Flushing South, Fresh Meadows, Hillcrest, Holliswood, Jamaica Estates, Jamaica Hills, Kew Gardens Hills and Utopia. The rest of Queens will receive in October and November. It will be on the same collection days as the rest of recycling. The brown bins will collect food scraps such as meat, fruit, bones,dairy, prepared food, napkins, towels, tea bags, plates, plants, trimmings, twigs and grass. The collection of items will turn into compost or clean energy. Residents can call 311 after November to receive brown bins if DSNY did not distribute one.
