Crash between scooter rider and cyclist dead on the Queens bridge

This morning around 8:30am, the local Queensboro Bridge was closed after two people died from a head on collision involving a scooter and bike. Both were traveling the opposite direction when the incident occurred. Police say both were found unresponsive and EMS transported both to local hospitals where they died later of injuries. The 39 year old male on the stand up motorized scooter was heading to work while the other male, 35 on the bike was on an early stroll, local witnesses.

The medical examiner transported the bodies to conduct autopsies to determine the cause of death.

As of now, the one part of the bike lane on the bridge is closed for ongoing investigation.

With more bike lanes all over the city, the NYPD has not moved to full mode enforcement since the data does not provide the same outcome of incidents compared to vehicles.
