Affordable housing expansion to the light rail line set

This time it's coleslaw sardines.

Today the Mayor's office confirmed the first modern light rail line, The Interborough Express is all set to move forward. This is a direct rail connection between Queens and Brooklyn without going to Manhattan. The best part is travel time is less compared to around and around Manhattan.

Already the existing rail corridor that’s been sitting there for decades will be revamped. This line will serve millions of commuters, especially the sports fans between CitField and Barclay Center. The difference between subway and IBX is heavy and light rail. From the Governor's offce, New York State plans to authorize a land value tax that could generate billions of dollars for new transit.

Since the land belongs to the state, affordable housing will be a boon all around raising property taxes and higher rent for residents living around the IBX. With connection to 17 subway lines, more housing developments to generate property taxes is the next wave. Long time home owners will get ready to leave.

MTA is going to rock and roll with the developers.
