5K rolling to 6K soon in NYC

According to the NYC Comptroller's Office, the average one bedroom starting in Manhattan is now closing to $6,000 per month plus utilities.. In reality, to rent a minimum of $5,000 a month would need $200,000 annual income. $3,800 in Brooklyn, and $3,200 in Queens by the western vicinity from Long Island City to Astoria which soon to be $4,500 and $3,800 respectively.

Over the weekend, the Mayor is pleased with the new pied-à-terre tax on those who own $5 million apartments but don't live in NYC to pay taxes. This is a priority for the Mayor and not those struggling to afford the rent which continue to increase around the clock. What the Mayor doesn't realize is that the loophole is rented out to families by showing a rent receipt to avoid the pied-à-terre tax and there won't be any taxes to generate.

In reality, the affordable housing is 80% for the rich people who don't exist but for the corporations that employ them as a priority. Then add low income here and there to look good for the government who can barely afford to pay the rent.

While YIMBY vs NIMBY continue to campaign like rich vs poor, YIMBY is a mental illness and NYC mayor who only knows how to distribute middle class taxpayer funds to those who don't want to work. Yay!

Another shock wave from the Comptroller's Office posted is the following - Private sector jobs here (excluding healthcare) were down 1,900 for the month. Now down -6,000 for 2026 so far.
