161 selected for a pilot program in NYC

A new pilot program is launching in NYC which was announced by the City Council in cooperation with the nonprofit, The Bridge Project to provide fixed income giveway to 161 selected women in NYC. The program will give the 161 women around $2,000 for the first month and then $1,000 for 18 months. After 18 months, the monthly giveaway will be $500. This is only for women with children to cover the basic needs from food to house supplies. All the funds come from taxpayers.

The nonprofit works with women who are victims of domestic violence or homeless, unable to care for the children for the fear of losing them to social or foster services.

After three years, the City Council will update with the report whether its success or not to continue with expansion.
