Weekend car meet has Bayside locals calling 911

The NYPD was called over the weekend after a car meet was reported more than once at the local Alley Pond Park on 73rd Avenue near the Long Island Motor Parkway where the parking lot was used for drag racing. The Mayor's office stated as long as no one was injured, the NYPD will enforce at a normal pace and not a priority. This is a frequent issue that Whitestone residents spoke out against after a home owner was assaulted last year and now the area is being monitored by police.

According to local residents, locations are selected through social media apps not known to the public and police are unable to track the next activity.

Residents can take up the matter with local council members or the community board for help.
