Water break forcing traffic delays on the tunnel

The NYC Dept of Transportation reporting Queens Midtown Tunnel is closed for time being due to water main break. Both directions are closed for Queens and Manhattan traffic.

Around 9am this morning, there was a pursuit involving a suspect for failure to stop and was apprehended inside the tunnel causing vehicle accidents with injuries. Several law enforcement officials were injured and taken to local hospitals.

Police didn't disclose if the earlier incident was the result of a water leak.

Traffic is being rerouted from the LIE and Manhattan roads from 34th Streets.

Avoid the route for now.

It's a mess all around.

Ongoing investigation.

Update - The DOT is now reporting this was an apparent construction accident awaiting for the press release.
