Vehicular accident causing fatality of pedestrian in Massapequa

The Homicide Squad is investigating a Vehicular Accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 11:07 pm in Massapequa. According to detectives, while attempting to cross Merrick Road from the north side to the south side in the vicinity of Carman Mill Road, a male pedestrian was struck by a 2015 BMW traveling eastbound on Merrick Road.  The male, 42, suffered head and body trauma.  He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:14 pm by a Nassau County Police Medic. The male operator, 19, remained at the scene.The investigation is ongoing.
