Vehicles converted to sleep is increasing in NYC

So much for affordable housing promo.

The NYC Street Outreach program is now reporting an increase of locals now living in vehicles. Several locals say one main reason is the affordable housing which is really expensive with all costs costing more than paychecks.

The other reason is due to lack of fair rent since the average one bedroom in Queens is now $2,500 which is a big demand compared to $3,000 per 3 or $4,000 for 4 bedrooms with too many roommates. A studio is easily around $2,000.

More nonprofits are now moving to shower programs in NYC.

Some are Shower Power NYC which is located in Ridgewood, Brooklyn Community Services Shower bus which is a mobile vehicle, Power in a Shower, NY Common Pantry etc.

All services are funded by taxpayers with dignity and care.

More nonprofits and other agencies are signing up with the city to provide this service for more taxpayer funds, especially those servicing the migrants. This is due to limited shelters with hygiene services.

There are no laws for sleeping inside vehicles in NYC. Police can check for DWI, license and registration or if a vehicle is damaged to issue tickets.

As for taxpayers, don't be late for work tomorrow, the city is relying upon you.
