Vehicle crash leads to DWI arrest in the town of VanBuren

On June 29, 2025, at 12:21 a.m., State Police were dispatched to the area of 2245 Warners Road in the town of VanBuren, Onondaga County for a vehicle crash.

On arrival, Troopers interviewed the vehicle operator, Joseph C. Brown, age 39, from Syracuse, NY, who stated that he lost control of a 2024 Chevrolet pickup truck. 

Investigation revealed that Brown was traveling west on Warners Road when he lost control of the vehicle due to unsafe speed.  The vehicle then exited the roadway, struck an embankment off of the north shoulder and overturned twice.  Brown was not injured in the crash.

While interviewing Brown, Troopers noted signs of possible intoxication.  Brown was administered standardized field sobriety testing which he subsequently failed.  Brown was placed under arrest and transported to SP Lysander where he provided a breath test sample of 0.18% BAC.
