Tioga County man charged after resisting arrest

On June 30, 2025, New York State Police at Owego arrested Justin Netherton, age 21 of Owego, NY for the class “D” felony of Assault in the second degree and the misdemeanors of Resisting Arrest and Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree.

On June 19, 2025, at approximately 7:52 p.m., Troopers were dispatched to a residence on Halsey Valley Road in the town of Spencer for a report of a domestic dispute.  Troopers were advised that Netherton had damaged a vehicle belonging to another person at the residence.  When a Trooper attempted to interview Netherton about what occurred, Netherton took off on foot then threw a beer can at the Trooper causing an injury to the Trooper.  While attempting to place Netherton in custody, Netherton continued to resist arrest and kick the Trooper and a second Trooper.  Netherton was ultimately placed in custody.
