Two separate death investigation in Nassau County

On Tuesday, the NCPD reported two separate incidents involving deaths.

The first incident was reported on Tuesday, April 8 around 8am in North Hills involving a vehicle accident.

According to detectives, officers responded near the vicinity of Shelter Road and the South Service Road for a single vehicle accident. Upon arrival, Officers observed a black 2022 Volkswagen overturned, with the 72-year-old male operator still inside.

Officers extracted the operator from the vehicle and was transported by a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead by a staff physician.

The same day around 11am, a dead body was found floating on Railroad Place on a dock in Island Park after a walker called 911. This is near the Reynolds Channel.

The ESU recovered the body of a male and the medical examiner transported it to conduct an autopsy. Detectives are working on the case on how the body ended up there pending more details.

Both incidents remain under investigation.
