Two new bills sponsored by local politicians which are fine for crossing street while texting and alcohol limit to lower to 0 05 from 0 08

NYS Assembly members Felix Ortiz and John Liu sponsored two new bills. One is a fine for people texting while crossing the street. The first fine would be from $25 to $50, $100 for second offense and $250 for third offense within 18 months. Before the fine applies, walkers must show text to police for exceptions which includes texting the police, fire department, hospital, doctor's office or health clinic. The law is only for texting and not talking on the phone. The second bill is to reduce the blood alcohol level to 0.05 from the current 0.08 involving DWI related cases. Both are in the Assembly awaiting for the votes to pass.
