Two arrested in Lloyd for illegal firearm possession

On March 18, 2025, at approximately 8:05 p.m., members of the Troop F Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) observed a 2021 GMC traveling on Route 9W in the town of Lloyd, committing several violations of the New York Vehicle and Traffic Law. Troopers initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Jarred S. Suitter, age 37, of Kingston, NY, and the passenger as Trent M. Heiney, age 29, of Accord, NY. During the interview with the occupants, troopers observed an open container of alcohol, prompting an impairment investigation. The investigation revealed that Suitter was impaired, leading to his arrest and charge of Driving While Intoxicated.

During the investigation a subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered two 9MM Polymer 80 Ghost Guns. Heiney and Suitter were then arrested. Both individuals were transported to State Police Highland for processing.

Suitter was charged with:

           •           Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm (Class E Felony)

           •           Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree (Class D Felony)

           •           Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree (Class C Felony)

           •           Driving While Intoxicated (1st Offense) (Misdemeanor)

           •           Multiple Uniform Traffic Tickets

Heiney was charged with:

           •           Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm (Class E Felony)

           •           Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree (Class D Felony)

           •           Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree (Class C Felony)

Suitter and Heiney were arraigned in the Ulster County Centralized Arraignment Part on March 19, 2025, and were released on their own recognizance.
