Train fire to fatality incidents from subway to LIRR

The MTA confirmed a smoke condition today around 11:30am at the Penn Station of LIRR resulted in fire on the tracks from electrical issues. The fire extended to the commercial building above and was brought under control by 1:30pm.

EMS transported the injured to local hospitals.

Around 12pm, a civilian was struck by a train and later died in the subway station. This is on Queens Blvd and Grand Avenue. ESU removed the body and the medical examiner transported it to conduct an autopsy.

By 2pm, the train resumed its normal schedule.

Both incidents remain under investigation.
