Sinkhole incident on the LIE westbound

From the Suffolk County Police Dept, a press statement was issued this afternoon of a sinkhole on the LIE westbound. This is by Exit 49N in Melville.

From the statement, the repair is under work and expected to complete by Friday afternoon by NYS Dept of Transportation.

As for the vehicle, a Honda Civic already in the pit, ESU removed it. EMS reported no major injuries to all from the vehicle.

Also, there is no criminality involved from the SCPD.

The incident has all lanes closed around 1pm today now one lane open for traffic on the westbound.

The SCPD report the hole is 10 to 20 feet deep.
