Three men arrested after assault at Beaver Island

On July 12, 2026, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested Wilfredo Rodriguez, 40 of Buffalo, NY for Obstruction Administration 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, Assault 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm in a Sensitive Location (NYS Park) and Menacing 2nd degree.

Michael A. Acosta-Padilla, 27 of Buffalo, NY was charged with Obstruction Administration 2nd degree and Criminal Mischief 4th degree.

Jeanpierre Montalvo Santos, 29 of Buffalo, NY was arrested for Obstruction Administration 2nd degree.

On July 12, 2026, at 5:30 P.M., Troopers, New York State Park Police (NYSPP), Erie County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Border Patrol were dispatched to Beaver Island State Park in the town of Grand Island for numerous reports of several people fighting and possible weapon involvement. Multiple patrols arrived on scene and encountered a large crowd of men, women, and children in the parking lot. Two vehicles attempted to leave the scene but were stopped by responding units. One of the vehicles occupants, Rodriquez was found to be in possession of a Glock 26, 9mm handgun. The other vehicle occupants, Santos and Acosta-Padilla both occupants were uncooperative and ultimately taken into custody by law enforcement. The 42-year-old victim was transported to Erie County Medical Center for lacerations to his head.  All three suspects were turned over to NYSP Bureau of Criminal Investigation out of SP Clarence for arrest and processing.

Rodriguez was transported to Erie County Holding Center. Rodriquez is a convicted felon and does not possess a pistol permit.
