Thefts continue to increase on Hillside Avenue but fear of retaliation is a concern

Local retailers and businesses on one stretch of Hillside Avenue from New Hyde Park to Queens Village reported thefts continuing to increase despite calling for more patrol.

Majority of retailers in Floral Park stated they call 911 but cops never respond on time thefts after thefts by recidivism matching the suspects from the local shelter at Creedmoor. One of the retailers stated another store of the same business operates in Jackson Heights on 74th Street where items stolen are often sold on the sidewalk.

According to several retailers, they called for a meeting with local elected officials but due to election time, they are busy.

With no enforcement in place for retailer thefts, Walgreens on Langdale Street faces the most incidents.

Despite complaints, the area is heavily Democrats and unable to call out on migrants, local residents believe a meeting is needed to discuss the ongoing situation.
