SSP westbound to Belt and CIP is on heavy pursuit for suspects

A police officer shot in Nassau County.

Heavy police presence on the Southern State Parkway westbound reporting suspects fired rounds at cops. This is by Exit 17 in Hempstead during a traffic stop. The suspect didn't cooperate and took off after the incident.

Now NYPD joined the search for a black Dodge Charger on both Belt Parkway and the Cross Island Parkway searching the vehicle. Chopper notified for assistance.

Police reported the vehicle has temporary plates.

EMS is working to transport the officer who is with the NYS Trooper to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow.
