Suspect in custody for the stabbing incident in East Elmhurst

On Monday at 6am, a woman walked to the bus stop for work to provide for her family without excuses. At 6:20am, police say an 18 year old teen approached from behind and was assaulted with a weapon. Police say It was unprovoked and strangers. They never met and today, the alleged perp turned in after his papa recognized his picture from the surveillance pictures released by the NYPD. All elected officials including the local congress member Alexandria Ocasio Cortez who represents the area along with the Mayor and Governor are silent. There were no gatherings or protests at the intersection of 94 Street and 23rd Avenue where the incident occurred. Now the woman lives in fear and decides to move out of the city with her family.

Police say the suspect lived with his father in a basement apartment and shocked neighbors after the arrest. Today, the suspect is charged with attempted murder and assault pending arraignment. From a legal point, if convicted, the maximum serving time is less than 5 years.

Now it's all on the Queens DA with the charges to be announced.
