State police arrest Rosendale man for grand larceny

On June 19, 2026, the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) in Kingston arrested Andrew C. Wells, 42, of Rosendale, NY, and charged him with Grand Larceny in the 2nd Degree, property value exceeding $50,000, a Class C felony.

The investigation began in late April 2026 after the board of the Ulster County Sheriff's Employee Association (UCSEA) discovered suspicious activity involving the organization's bank account. The matter was subsequently referred to the New York State Police BCI in Kingston for investigation.

Investigators revealed that Wells, who served as the union treasurer, had stolen approximately $99,418.23 from the UCSEA business account for personal use between February 2023 and April 2026.

On June 19, 2026, Wells voluntarily reported to State Police Kingston, where he was arrested and processed without incident. He was transported to the Kingston City Court Centralized Arraignment Part for arraignment and was released on his own recognizance.

Wells is scheduled to appear in the City of Kingston Court on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.

The investigation remains ongoing.
