State Police partners with the Fulton county Sheriffs ofice to seize a gun and narcotics

On May 26, 2026, State Police, in partnership with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Jamal L. Decoteau-Hird, 28, of Amsterdam, NY, for:

Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd, a class “B” felony

Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd, a class “C” felony

Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd, a class “A” misdemeanor

As a result of an ongoing Fulton County Sheriff’s Office investigation, State Police assisted with the execution of a search warrant at the residence of Decoteau-Hird located on West Main Street in Amsterdam. During the investigation, an illegally possessed loaded handgun, felony weight narcotics that later field-tested positive for containing cocaine, and drug paraphernalia were discovered in the residence and seized.
