State Police investigating fatal accident in Chazy

On June 20, 2025, at approximately 12:07 pm, State Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision in the vicinity of 1547 Lake Shore Road, Chazy.  

The investigation revealed a 2024 Ford Bronco, operated by 18-year-old Kennedy C. Columbus, Chazy, NY, was traveling west on Lake Shore Road, when a tree fell from the north shoulder of the roadway and struck her vehicle. 

Columbus’ vehicle overturned and struck a utility pole, which caused the power lines to disconnect.

Columbus was pronounced deceased on scene. 

Columbus was the only occupant in the vehicle. 

The investigation is ongoing.
