State Police arrest wappinger falls woman for aggravated DWI

On June 9, 2026, at approximately 10:09 p.m., New York State Police in Wappinger conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling northbound on South Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie for violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

During the stop, the operator, identified as Karissa N. Peters, 20, of Wappinger Falls, New York, exhibited signs of intoxication. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered, which she subsequently failed.

Peters was taken into custody and transported to SP Wappinger for processing, where she submitted to a chemical breath test that yielded a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.21%.

As a result of the investigation, Peters was charged with:

Aggravated DWI: Per Se – BAC of 0.18% or more, no prior convictions, an unclassified misdemeanor

Driving While Intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor

Vehicle and Traffic Law violations

Peters was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Poughkeepsie Court on July 13, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
