State Police arrest two inmates following assault on correction officers at the Auburn correctional facility

The New York State Police have arrested Errol Fowler-Graham, 34, and Shaquan Brown, 33, following an investigation into an assault on correction officers at the Auburn Correctional Facility.

The incident occurred on August 21, 2024, when correction officers were assaulted during inmate movement within the facility. Multiple officers sustained injuries and were transported to Auburn Community Hospital for treatment. One officer remained out of work due to injuries.

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, in coordination with the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office, conducted the investigation. The case was presented to a grand jury, which returned indictments.

On January 13, 2026, Fowler-Graham and Brown were arraigned in Cayuga County Court and charged with:

Three counts of Assault 2nd degree: Injure Person While Confined In A Correctional Facility (D felony)

Three counts of Assault 2nd degree: With Intent Cause Injury to Officer (D felony)

Both defendants were processed without incident and returned to the custody of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
