State Police arrest two following missing commercial vehicle complaint

On December 23, 2024, State Police of Schodack arrested Kenneth W. Thomas, 52, of Berlin, NY, for Criminal Mischief in the second degree.

Nina M. Thomas, 34, of Berlin, NY, was also arrested for two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree.

On May 6, 2023, Troopers received a complaint about a possibly stolen commercial vehicle.  The victim lives out of state and reportedly purchased the commercial vehicle from K. Thomas in August 2022.  Following the sale and with the new owner's permission in winter 2022, K. Thomas reportedly brought the vehicle to a storage lot in Canaan, NY.  When the owner attempted to retrieve the vehicle in April of 2023, the vehicle was missing.  The investigation determined that K. Thomas reportedly never transported the commercial vehicle to the storage lot.  Further investigation determined K. Thomas had allegedly deconstructed the vehicle, leading to a search of K. Thomas's property in Berlin, NY, where multiple parts reportedly belonging to the missing vehicle were discovered and seized.

In addition, during the search of the property N. Thomas was found to allegedly illegally possess two firearms classified as assault weapons. Both firearms were seized.

K. Thomas and N. Thomas surrendered themselves to SP Schodack, where they were arrested and processed. Both were arraigned at the Schodack Town Court and released on their own recognizance.
