State Police arrest saratoga county realtor for forgery

On May 14, 2025, State Police of Clifton Park arrested Jean C. Maloney, 64 of Mechanicville, NY for Forgery in the second degree, Possession of a Forged Instrument in the second degree, Identity Theft in the first degree, and Falsifying Business Records in the first degree.

On May 8, 2025, Troopers received a complaint from a Halfmoon Business reporting a possible fraud. The investigation discovered that Maloney’s who is the owner of “21st Century Properties” and “Hanks Hollow Realty,” had been reportedly hired by the business to handle multiple real estate matters, acting as a real estate broker. Maloney allegedly forged the victim’s signature on a real estate sale contract for a property owned by the business in Halfmoon, NY, without permission or authorization. Her alleged actions would have resulted in the property being sold to her, but the forged contract was discovered before the completion of the sale, and the title of the property was not transferred to Maloney. Further investigation determined Maloney had reportedly applied for a loan in September of 2024 falsely listed herself as the owner of the property in question on the loan application.
