State Police arrest Watervliet woman following intentional crash investigation

On May 15, 2026, State Police of Brunswick arrested Basirah Jamalzada, 24, of Watervliet, NY, for:

Two counts of Criminal Mischief 3rd, a class “E” felony

Reckless Endangerment, 2nd, a class “A” misdemeanor

Criminal Tampering 3rd, a class “B” misdemeanor

Vehicle and traffic law violations

On May 15, 2026, at about 9:35 p.m., troopers responded to a parking lot in the area of Hoosick Road in Brunswick for the report of a disturbance. The investigation determined Jamalzada was in a vehicle in the parking lot when the victim, who is known to Jamalzada, arrived in another vehicle. The victim got out and attempted to talk to Jamalzada when Jamalzada allegedly intentionally backed her vehicle into the victim’s vehicle multiple times, then turned her vehicle around and struck it again before fleeing in her vehicle. No one was injured during the incident. 

Jamalzada was located and arrested at her home a short time later. She was transported to SP Brunswick for processing. She was then arraigned at the Schaghticoke Town Court, where she was released on her own recognizance.
