State Police arrest Schenectady man and seize illegally possessed handgun during Albany traffic stop

On October 23, 2025, State Police assigned to the Troop G Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) arrested Kye A. Washburn, 26 of Schenectady, NY for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree and Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

On October 23, 2025, at about 9:50 p.m. Troopers stopped a vehicle on First Street in Albany, NY for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Washburn. The investigation discovered an illegally possessed loaded handgun inside the vehicle which was seized.

Washburn was arrested and transported to SP Latham for processing. He was then transported to the Albany Police Department where he was held pending arraignment.
