State Police arrest Nassau man for possessing child exploitation material and seize firearm

On October 1, 2026, State Police of Schodack, with the assistance of the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, arrested Scott Hammond, 38, of Nassau, NY, for:

 

Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “D” felony

Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “E” felony

Criminal Possession of a Firearm 4th, a class “A” misdemeanor

Vehicle and traffic law violations

Hammond is accused of promoting and possessing images consistent with child sexual exploitation. His arrest followed an ongoing investigation and the execution of multiple search warrants in 2024 and 2026. During the search of Hammond’s home on October 1, 2026, a loaded long gun was discovered and seized from his residence. Hammond cannot legally own or possess the firearm due to a previous felony conviction.
