Spirit took off in the sky never to return

After 34 years of budget friendly, low cost business Spirit airlines ended operations resulting in almost 14,000 employees losing their job. The announcement was made official last night at 3am. The primary reason was due to financial strains after the merger was blocked with JetBlue.

This is the run down -

2020: Revenue crashed to $1.81B (-53%), -$429M loss (COVID).

2021–2023: Revenue rebounded to $3.2B → $5.4B, but heavy losses (-$473M, -$554M, -$447M) amid fuel/debt woes. Merger with Jet Blue rejected by Biden admin.

2024: $4.91B rev (-8%), -$1.23B loss.

Multiple bankruptcies, blocked merger, failed $500M fed bailout rejected by Bond holders.

Up next, 18,000 Amazon jobs in NYC are heading to the chopping block in all five boroughs after the City Council demanded the company hire locals as part of DEI instead of using Delivery Service Partners who are professionals.

The new NYC demographic under the current Mayor wants all corporations to leave NYC under socialism since capitalism is bad. NYC is a union town as part of the communist method.

As of this year, 21,000 corporate jobs were lost in NYC after companies moved their operations out to Texas and Florida.

All nice.
